About Unapologetic Wellness
Unapologetic Wellness is a nonprofit sister organization rooted in the belief that people are not the problem, systems, chronic overwhelm, disconnection, and impossible expectations often are.
We exist to create accessible, human-centered spaces for healing, reflection, growth, and sustainable well-being. Our work integrates mental health support, clinical practices, wellness education, psycho-education, community care, and identity-affirming approaches that honor the full complexity of being human.
At Unapologetic Wellness, we believe healing should not feel rushed, performative, or disconnected from real life. We are committed to building spaces where people can show up authentically, explore their experiences honestly, and reconnect with themselves and their communities in meaningful ways.
Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in relational care. We support individuals navigating burnout, stress, grief, identity exploration, life transitions, emotional wellness, and the impact of larger social and systemic pressures on mental health.
Through therapy, coaching, education, community programming, reflective practices, and collaborative partnerships, Unapologetic Wellness works toward a future where care is sustainable, inclusive, and rooted in dignity, connection, and humanity.
We envision a world where people do not have to earn rest, prove their pain, or shrink themselves to belong, and where wellness is approached with honesty, compassion, creativity, and collective care.

Who We Are - Unapologetic Wellness
Unapologetic Wellness is the nonprofit sister organization of Blooming Brilliance, created to focus more deeply on therapeutic services, mental health care, healing-centered practices, and community wellness.
While Blooming Brilliance centers leadership development, coaching, education, organizational wellness, and systems-level work, Unapologetic Wellness was built from the understanding that meaningful healing also requires spaces for individuals, couples, families, teens, and communities to slow down, reflect, process, and reconnect with themselves in ways that feel human and sustainable.
Founded by Dr. Rachel Phelps, Unapologetic Wellness brings together over 15 years of experience across K–12 schools, higher education, school-based mental health systems, leadership development, clinical social work, and community-centered wellness practices.
Dr. Phelps is a therapist, educator, systems strategist, and social work leader whose work has focused on designing and managing mental health systems of care, supporting school social workers and counselors, leading wellness initiatives, coaching helping professionals and leaders, and creating trauma-informed, identity-affirming spaces for healing and growth.
She holds a Doctorate, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and is currently under clinical supervision while finalizing her LCSW and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credentials.
Her work is grounded in the belief that people are not the problem, systems, expectations, trauma, burnout, relationships, and lived experiences deeply shape how we move through the world. Through a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, relational, and liberatory lens, she supports individuals in understanding themselves more deeply while building sustainable ways of living, coping, healing, and connecting.
Dr. Phelps specializes in supporting womxn and femme-identifying individuals, teens, couples, educators, helping professionals, and individuals navigating anxiety, burnout, identity exploration, perfectionism, life transitions, grief, relationships, emotional overwhelm, and belonging.
Her approach blends authentic humanity with clinical knowledge, systems thinking, reflective practices, expressive and creative interventions, education around how the brain and nervous system work, and collaborative goal-setting that honors each person’s unique story and healing journey.
At Unapologetic Wellness, healing is not viewed as “fixing” yourself or becoming more productive. It is about reconnecting with who you are underneath the overwhelm, expectations, masking, survival strategies, and pressure to carry everything alone.
We believe people deserve spaces where they can feel seen, supported, reflective, empowered, and unapologetically human.

Does This Sound Like You?
Are you the one everyone counts on… but secretly you are exhausted?
Do you feel like your brain never shuts off, overthinking, replaying conversations, carrying the emotional labor, and trying to keep all the plates spinning?
Are you a millennial womxn trying to survive burnout culture while also unpacking perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the pressure to “have it all together”?
Are you Gen Z and already feeling overwhelmed by hustle culture, identity expectations, uncertainty, relationships, social pressure, or the constant noise of the world?
Are you navigating perimenopause, hormonal shifts, changing energy levels, brain fog, anxiety, irritability, grief around identity changes, or wondering why no one prepared you for this stage of life?
Do you spend so much time caring for everyone else that you barely recognize yourself anymore?
Do you feel stuck between wanting boundaries and worrying about disappointing people?
Are you tired of masking, shrinking yourself, over-functioning, or pretending you are “fine” when internally you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally exhausted?
Have anxiety, burnout, stress, grief, trauma, or life transitions started making it harder to feel grounded in yourself and your relationships?
Have you spent years being the helper, caretaker, achiever, strong friend, therapist friend, partner, parent, professional, and now your nervous system is asking for something different?
Because honestly?
It is hard out here for womxn trying to exist in systems that constantly demand more while giving very little space to rest, process, heal, or simply be human.
At Unapologetic Wellness, we create spaces where you do not have to perform wellness, earn rest, or prove you are struggling enough to deserve support.
This is a space for:
honest conversations
nervous system support
identity exploration
healing without perfection
boundaries without guilt
sustainable wellness instead of survival mode
reconnecting with yourself underneath the burnout and overwhelm
You do not have to keep carrying everything alone.
You deserve spaces where you can exhale, reflect, heal, laugh, process, unravel, rebuild, and take up space unapologetically.
So… What Now?
When you are ready, reaching out is simple. Email, text, or connect in whatever way feels most comfortable for you.
We offer virtual support for women/femme-identifying individuals in Missouri and Kansas.
Being a teenager right now is a lot. School pressure, social dynamics, identity exploration, constant comparison, relationships, family stress, future expectations, burnout, mental health struggles, and trying to figure out who you are in the middle of all of it can feel overwhelming.
At Unapologetic Wellness, we support teens as whole humans, not just symptoms, grades, behaviors, or diagnoses. We recognize that teens exist within families, schools, friendships, communities, and systems that all impact mental health and well-being.
Our approach is warm, collaborative, identity-affirming, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and grounded in helping teens better understand themselves, their emotions, their nervous systems, and how their brains work.
Therapy is not about “fixing” who you are. It is about creating a space where you can breathe, process, learn, reflect, build coping skills, strengthen self-understanding, and feel more supported navigating life.
Does This Sound Like You?
Are you struggling with:
Stress, anxiety, or overwhelm?
Depression, burnout, or emotional exhaustion?
Perfectionism or people-pleasing?
Self-worth, confidence, or body image concerns?
ADHD, neurodivergence, or understanding how your brain works?
Friendship drama, social dynamics, or feeling left out?
Family conflict or difficult relationships?
Grief, major life transitions, or identity exploration?
Feeling misunderstood, emotionally reactive, disconnected, or stuck?
Coping in ways that no longer feel healthy or sustainable?
You are not alone.
Being a teen is not for the faint of heart. Therapy can become a space to come up for air, a judgment-free zone where you do not have to pretend everything is fine.
Together, we explore what is happening beneath the surface while building tools, insight, coping strategies, emotional regulation skills, communication skills, and a stronger understanding of who you are and what you need.
We collaborate on a plan that honors your strengths, goals, identity, and the future you want to create for yourself, not just what others expect from you.
So… What Now?
